Your Ohio Court Reporters Association is at it again:  Working hard to find opportunities for court reporters and captioners to improve themselves and our profession!  Prince Institute, the leader in CART/Captioning education, and VITAC, the industry leader in the delivery of captioning services, have joined forces to provide current court reporting professionals a unique training opportunity to increase their skill sets by learning captioning in a boot camp setting. This training opportunity is made possible by a Realtime Writers scholarship grant offered by the U.S. Department of Education.  Qualified attendees may have boot camp training fees reimbursed.

What's the deal?

Three full days of instruction, followed by two online modules -- to begin your transition to broadcast captioning. There will be a lot of hands-on instruction and practice. Bring your writer and laptop containing realtime software.  You must currently hold an RPR or CSR/CCR certification to be eligible for the scholarship grant.

Each day will run from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and will be held at the Clark State Community College Leffel Lane and Downtown Campuses.  2.4 CEUs are available for the full-three-day boot camp attendees (.8 CEUs available for each day).  There is a Thursday, April 23-Only Option available for those not eligible for and/or able to participate in the Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 Boot Camp.

- Registration directly through the Ohio Court Reporters Association
- Hosted at Clark State Community College Leffel Lane Campus (Library Resource Center)
- Registration fee not eligible for scholarship grant reimbursement
- REFUND POLICY:  If your registration for Thursday is cancelled on or before April 16, 2015, you will be issued a full refund.  Cancellations received after April 16th and before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee.  Cancellations received after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd will forfeit the entire registration fee.

(4-5 weeks) - Individual writing analysis and assignments throughout the five weeks. You will be given online broadcast videos to practice and submit, analysis to follow. Individualized assignments will target deficient areas.

(4-5 weeks) - More individual writing analysis of realtime writing progression. Consultation will be provided in furtherance of successful passage of exit testing.

Boot camp presenter is Jenny Dunn, RDR, CRR, CBC, CRI, CART/Captioning instructor at Prince Institute Southeast, retired freelance reporter (24 years) and VITAC captioner (10 years).

Co-presenter is Melissa Lee, CRI, CCR, instructor at Prince Institute Southeast, Montgomery, Alabama.

Presentation material is graciously provided by VITAC with consultation by Amy Bowlen, FAPR, RDR, CBC, CRR, VITAC’s Manager, Realtime Captioning Training.
