Course Description
What You Need to Know: Sovereign Citizens and Court Reporting Technology
Two topics of importance to court reporters are dealing with sovereign citizens and using technology to improve efficiency and accuracy on the job. The first session of the day will discuss the challenges that sovereign citizens may present to court staff. In the afternoon, faculty will provide an overview of the technology, including the use of realtime reporting, that contemporary court reporters need to perform their jobs effectively in this digital age. Faculty will describe both the state and national initiatives (called BRATS and TRAIN respectively) and provide suggestions for maximizing the benefits of realtime.
