In conjunction with NCRA's fourth annual National Court Reporting & Captioning week, February 14-20, 2016, Ohio Governor John R. Kasich and Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor have recognized and declared Ohio Court Reporting and Captioning Week. Your OCRA is proud to have achieved this declaration for our profession here in Ohio!
OCRA President Marie Fresch is encouraging all court reporters and captioners to share the excitement of Ohio's Court Reporting & Captioning Week. In addition to the official Resolution, please view Marie's Letter to the Editor sent to all major newspapers in Ohio and be sure to view, print, and share around Ohio's courthouses, libraries, colleges - everywhere - OCRA's poster/flyer announcing Ohio Court Reporting & Captioning Week.
In order to assist in the recognition of the profession of court reporting and captioning around Ohio, each member of our profession is encouraged to spread the word to family, friends, and the public to raise awareness about the growing number of employment opportunities the profession offers.
On February 15, OCRA President-Elect Susan Gee will join NCRA President Steve Zinone, Indiana Court Reporters Association President Tonya Kaiser, and Pennsylvania Court Reporters Association President Kathy McHugh in a panel discussion hosted by the College of Court Reporting, Hobart, Indiana. The discussion will take place online via the college’s Blackboard Collaborate and will be hosted by Jeff Moody, President of the College of Court Reporting. Sue and her fellow panelists will share information about their careers as court reporters, the challenges they faced in court reporting schools, what motivates them to serve as leaders, why association membership is important to students and working professionals, and more. Participation is open to anyone. For more information, contact Natalie Kijurna at kijurna@ccr.edu or 866-294-3974, ext. 229.
