Course Description

Effective court reporting is essential to creating a meaningful transcript.  Strategies for honing skills in proofreading and punctuation will be discussed and practiced to increase accuracy, coherence, and comprehension.  The unique nature of capital and high profile cases will be examined, including the critical role court reporters have in ensuring the record is accurate.  Ergonomic work environments designed to ease discomfort and reduce the chance of injury will be explored.  An overview of the state of the profession of court reporting will be provided.
